Disabled Victorians Given a Learning Seat
Online training and compliance management centre Learning Seat today announced a corporate social responsibility scheme that will see a range of initiatives rolled out to aid one of Victoria's oldest and largest non-profit community service providers, Yooralla, in the lead up to International Day for People with a Disability.
Yooralla exists to help Victorians who live with a disability acquired from birth, accident, ill health or age. They help both children and adults with disabilities to do everyday things that most of us take for granted – things like eating, moving about, talking, showering, working and generally living independently.
As part of the scheme, Learning Seat will donate one dollar to every new enrolment they receive to their training courses between Monday November 10 and Sunday November 30.
In addition, Learning Seat will welcome five people with disabilities (as supplied by Yooralla) into its offices on December 3 which is International Day for People with a Disability, to work on a variety of tasks including general administration, writing and editing and multimedia presentations.
Michael Solomon, chief executive officer of Learning Seat emphasised the importance of demonstrating corporate social responsibility in the community. “Corporate social responsibility is more than just goodwill. Our association with Yooralla is a genuine attempt to use our position in society to build strong relationships with the less fortunate by improving their quality of life.
“Even during this current economic crisis where businesses may be tightening their belts and forgoing their corporate social responsibility initiatives, we still see these initiatives as a priority.
“Almost one in every five Victorians lives with a disability of some kind. Yooralla has been helping these Victorians for over 90 years providing them with the opportunity to go through rich life experiences that their disability may have naturally hindered them from.”
Sanjib Roy, chief executive officer of Yooralla thanked Learning Seat for its support and assistance. “It is truly encouraging to have Learning Seat use its strengths to help deliver our vision – to provide services that promote, develop and sustain the independence and community inclusion of those who have, or may acquire disability.
“From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank Learning Seat for choosing us as its non-profit organisation of choice.”
