The new section features editorial, maps, downloadable guides for dozens of worldwide destinations, along with essential information and advice on weather, currency, transport, health and visas.
Sigrid Kirk, group publisher, NEWS.com.au said the new Lonely Planet partnership adds great depth and breadth to the existing NEWS.com.au/travel pages. “At NEWS.com.au/travel, providing our readers with the most comprehensive, inspirational, high-value information to help them plan and research holidays before they go is a huge priority for us.
“Lonely Planet is one of the worlds most popular and trusted travel brands. Combining their Destination Guides with our own quality travel content and tools makes NEWS.com.au travel an essential source for all travellers.”
Jeff Trounce, Global Manager - Client Solutions at Lonely Planet welcomed its partnership with NEWS.com.au. “NEWS.com.au’s travel section currently attracts a high quality travel audience. It seemed like a natural progression to offer these audiences our in-depth travel guides, maps and planning tools”
Each of the destination pages will include:
- Travel stories
- Google Maps
- Photo Galleries
- Lonely Planet destination information including sights, activities, events, travel advice and weather information
- Downloadable Fastcheck city guides -
- Related deals for flights, hotels and packages to particular destinations (powered by WeGo.com.au) -
- Relevant activities for Australian destinations (powered by GoDo.com)
Ms. Kirk continued: “Through our other partnerships with WeGo.com.au and GoDo.com, users can read an inspiring travel story that may trigger their interest in a destination; and within the same page, find detailed travel planning information and related deals that will enable them to take the next step in the travel purchase process, whether that be further research, searching and comparing prices, or actually making a booking.
“Offering such integration in our travel pages truly differentiates us from our competitors.”
